Privacy Policy

1.    This Privacy Policy is an integral part of the agreement between MeCards and/or Fribble media Ltd. ("MeCards" or “we”) and each visitor, registered user or member, as the case may be (each, a “user” or “you”) concerning the use of the websites owned, controlled, operated or hosted (whether now or in the future) by MeCards and/or its corporate affiliates, including but not limited to the MeCards.com website (collectively the "MeCards Sites"). The other integral parts of such agreement are the MeCards Terms of Use.

2.    At MeCards, we respect your right to privacy and we understand that you need to control the uses of your personal information. This Privacy Policy details below the measures taken by MeCards to protect your privacy in connection with your use of the MeCards Sites. However, you understand that the MeCards Sites and MeCards' service are designed to allow users to post photographs and information about themselves for public review and comment. Accordingly, by submitting your photograph and/or any personal information, you thereby waive any privacy expectations you have with respect to our use of your likeness or personal information provided to us. If you do not wish to have your picture or information about yourself viewed by or disclosed to others, do not use the MeCards Sites and our service.

3.    MeCards also allows our registered users and members to set up unique personal profiles either directly with MeCards or via third-party sign-on services (e.g., Facebook Connect). To enrich our users’ experience, we request and display some personal information to other visitors, registered users and members, which allows our users to identify each other. MeCards registered users and members can change their profile information at any time and can control how the service communicates with them.

4.    By using any of the MeCards Sites, you affirmatively consent to this Privacy Policy and agree to have your personal information (to the extent disclosed by you either directly to MeCards or via third-party sign on services) collected by MeCards (or its agents or contractors).

Information Collection and Use

5.    MeCards collects user submitted information such as name, email address, and age to authenticate users and to send notifications to those users relating to the MeCards service. MeCards may also collects other data either directly or via third-party sign-on services (e.g., Facebook Connect), including but not limited to: personal interests, gender, age, education and occupation, in order to enrich the user experience and make content recommendations.

6.    MeCards also logs non-personally-identifiable information such as IP address, aggregate user data, and browser type, from users and visitors to the site. This data is used to manage the website, track usage and improve the website services. This non-personally-identifiable information may be shared with third-parties to provide more relevant services and advertisements to users. User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes.

7.    User account information, including pictures and usernames, are displayed in order to enrich the user experience and facilitate user interaction. Email addresses are primarily used for the purposes of sending notifications related to the service. With the exception of notifying friends about content the user has created, a user's email address is not shared or publicly displayed on the MeCards Sites or within the MeCards service. Users' full names, to the extent collected and stored, are never directly revealed to other users.

8.    From time to time, MeCards or a partner, may sponsor a promotion, sweepstake or contest on the MeCards Sites. Users may be asked to provide personal information including name, email address or home address or to answer questions in order to participate. We may transfer personal information to certain ad partners that you have explicitly requested to receive information from. It will be clear at the point of collection who is collecting the personal information and whose privacy statement will apply.

Use of Cookies

9.    MeCards uses cookies to store user preferences, account status, traffic origination, and to record session information, for purposes including ensuring that users are not repeatedly offered the same advertisements and to customize newsletter, advertising, and Web page content based on browser type and user profile information. You may be able to configure your browser to accept or reject all or some cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set — each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser to learn how to change your cookie preferences — however, you must enable cookies from MeCards in order to use most functions on the MeCards Sites. Please note that MeCards allows 3rd party advertisers that are presenting advertisements on some of our pages to set and access their cookies on your computer. Advertisers' use of cookies is subject to their own privacy policies, not the MeCards Privacy Policy.

Invitations and Other Communications to Non-users

10.    MeCards users can send content to friends via our system and invite friends to join the service via third-party single sign-on services (e.g., Facebook Connect). MeCards stores the email addresses that users provide so that MeCards can send notifications authorized by users and related reminders to such email addresses. MeCards does not sell these email addresses or use them to send any other communication besides those initiated by users and invitation reminders initiated by MeCards (one (1) per email address). Recipients of emails from MeCards may contact MeCards to request the removal of their information from our database by clicking on the "Opt-Out" Link at the bottom of our emails.

11.    You may prevent MeCards messages from being sent to any email address you control by sending an email request to Service@MeCards.com.

Third Party Advertising

12.    Ads appearing on the MeCards Sites may be delivered to users by MeCards or one of our Web advertising partners. Our Web advertising partners may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement. In this way, ad servers may compile information about where you, or others who are using your computer, saw their advertisements and determine which ads are clicked on. This information allows an ad network to deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by MeCards and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

Agents

13.    We may use a third party company to pack and ship products ordered in the MeCards online store. Our fulfillment company has access to your full name and shipping address to complete this transaction but does not retain, share, store or use personally identifiable information for any other purposes.

Service Providers

14.    We use PayPal to process payments. In order to purchase an animated 99 cent MeCard, you make the payment at the PayPal site.  MeCards does not store any of our users credit card information in our database.

Links

15.    The MeCards Sites contain links to third-party sites. MeCards is not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices on other sites. When linking to another site a user should read the privacy policy stated on that site. Our privacy policy only governs information collected on the MeCards Sites.

Public Communication

16.    Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily post information on the MeCards Site(s) that that information can be accessed by the public and can in turn be used by those people to send you unsolicited communications. We are not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these forums.

Email Choice/Opt-out

17.    When applicable, registered users and members may choose to no longer receive updates or notifications by managing their email preferences; in the user profile 'Account Settings'. All notification emails and MeCards newsletters include instructions for opting-out of those communications in the future.

Sharing and Disclosure of Information MeCards Collects

18.    Except as otherwise described in this privacy statement, MeCards will not disclose personal information to any third party unless we believe that disclosure is necessary: (1) to comply with applicable law or to respond to a subpoena, court order, search warrant or other legal process received by MeCards, whether or not a response is required by applicable law; (2) to protect or enforce our rights or the rights of a third party; (3) to protect the safety of members of the public and our users; or (4) to respond to an emergency. MeCards reserves the right to transfer personal information to a successor in interest that acquires rights to that information as a result of a sale of MeCards or substantially all of MeCards’s assets to that successor in interest or of a merger between MeCards and such successor in interest. MeCards also reserves the right to disclose personal information as necessary to enable third-party service providers to support and maintain the operation of the MeCards Sites and MeCards’s services. You will be notified via e-mail of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information. For more information see the "Changes in Our Privacy Policy" section below.

Children’s Privacy

19.    MeCards is committed to protecting the privacy needs of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests. The MeCards Sites and MeCards’s service are not intended for and may not be used by children under the age of 18. MeCards does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 18 and does not target its websites or service to children under 18.

Changes in Our Privacy Policy

20.    This Privacy Policy is subject to change by MeCards from time to time. If we make changes, we will post the changes on the MeCards Site(s) affected by such changes and/or notify registered users and members via email. Also, we may ask registered users and members to review and consent to the changes at the time of their next account log-in. By continuing to use the MeCards Site(s) affected by such changes after such notice and consent, you agree to be bound by the changes to this Privacy Policy.
